Need Help with Gen2 Netplex on IGT G20
« on: May 21, 2024, 02:33:33 PM »
Need help with a Gen2 Netplex. I can't figure out how to remove the printer to check the connectors. I don't see any screws or how the base is attached to the bottom plate. Any help?

The printer is receiving power, will feed paper, but on my G20 when I go to setup/Print vouchers/ is set to YES. It will tilt and not see the printer. So I turn off "Print vouchers" and the printer is therefore turned off and I can continue playing. The BV will read tickets printed from my other GK TITO but I can't verify whether this printer has the proper cables attached as I can't remove it.

I see an empty USB A but not sure whether that is suppose to be attached or where/what board it goes to. Any ideas? If I press feed, it will feed a ticket properly.

Just slide it out forward to get to the mounting screws. (or to see what's back there)

Yeah, I was trying to force that thing forward but the bracket wasn't moving. I put a lot of ummf into it and it didn't move. All I can see is the black accordion style cable.

That's the only cable it has/needs.

Okay, discovered one of the connectors on the harness is not connected. I could not figure out where it goes to. There's no dangling harness and I couldn't find an opening on the PCBs. Anybody have a G20 or G23 that can tell me where that connector goes?

You should be able to grab the unit and slide it forward, there is a release button (sliding tab) with a finger notch on the underside of the printer, you need to push towards the back of the printer, then it will slide the rest of the way and separate from the slide plate/mounting bracket. Not sure why your game is not seeing it though, could have lost the program. Put a ticket in and apply power while holding the feed and it will print you a ticket with the version on it. Sixcardmark's answers were all correct though, that is how all of our G20 printers are connected.

Okay, I figured out that the wiring harness has a power, USB, and the 3 pin connector that doesn't get used. I am able to print a sample print with the firmware version on it. But that version doesn't appear in referenced documentation on NLG, version is GUHR119011.

Do I need to upgrade firmware on the printer? I am running AI014B0E OS, and that's the latest as far as I know.

I know the USB does work because I will unplug/replug and the printer cycles and therefore is getting a signal to it. Does it make a difference were the USB is plugged in the PCB? I only moved it recently while trying to set up the printer.  The tilt says something like device not found. But I'm wondering if the Validation style has something to do with it. I will try STANDARD and SYSTEM tomorrow. If I just set Print vouchers to "NO" everything is fine, but of course, then I don't take advantage of a ticket printer. Mechanically, I think the printer is fine. When I received the machine, less than a month ago, there was no paper in the printer and the printer was disabled. I didn't ask the original owner. But I just added TITO@HOME and BV portion works fine. The BV will read Bettor printed tickets too.

I will check Voucher In/Out and Legacy Bouncing Advanced setups tomorrow.

Okay it's been a while since we ran Netplex on these, I think the only thing we still do is on Game Kings. As far as I know you don't hook up the USB if you are running Netplex(someone correct me if I'm wrong), and that Firmware would be GUN0010506. Now, if you are running it as USB then you would plug that in anywhere in the backplane up by the dongle and that Firmware would be GUU001A508. Like I said it was just easier to eliminate Netplex wherever we could. I can talk to some of the old timers tomorrow and see if they know anything about it. Good Luck!

Disclaimer: I work for a casino and know nothing about setting these up for home use. Our protocol is SerialSAS 1,  Validation Style - Enhanced, and yes is marked for: Accept vouchers, print vouchers, validate handpays, SYSTEM SETTING:Accept vouchers, SYSTEM SETTING: Print vouchers, USE SYSTEM SETTING: Accept vouchers, USE SYSTEM SETTING print vouchers. the rest are marked no. You should be able to go intoSupport, Diagnostic, Device, Feature Self-Test, and select USBTicketPrinterFeature and it should say FL GEN2 NETPLEXPrinter ...Mine say FL GEN2 USB PRINTER:FL ...from there you should be able to test print. Now if it doesn't show up something is wrong.

Is it possible the firmware is the issue? I didn’t see any references to
Firmware: GUHR119011 TKT-22

I think it's firmware.
Netplex would be GUN0010506.
USB would be GUU001A508.
We don't have anything, at all that uses GUHR119011.

After lots of frustration, I got the printer out and now I'm thinking my issue is probably firmware as no one seems to know the firmware version this printer is on. I didn't realize there is a bracket with a screw in the front that needs removing. However, you have to pop the button self down to access it.

Does anyone have a Gen2 they'd be interested in loaning me to test it out? Or can I send my printer to anyone who can upgrade the firmware? I don't have the energy to figure that part of it out myself.

Gen2 Universal. As it is USB I'm assuming, GUU001A508

You can borrow one from a game king or s2000. (non-usb)  That's what I'm using in my G23.
