Igt s plus No tilt codes, but still not playable
« on: June 18, 2024, 03:45:07 PM »
I bought this non-working IGT S plus
Slot machine and have been tinkering with it for a few weeks. Originally it was stuck in the 60 -1 loop, but a clear chip cleared it. When powered up the reels, do their initial spin, but nothing from the DBV. The CC light is on when door is shut and off when doors open. But never hear the rake actuate. Coins always go to front tray. I can play by pushing the tiny white button under coin optics. The candles lower light has always been flashing but no tilt code anymore. Just the 0 in coins played. I've got the door optics side by side on the reel shelf and have tested and they work. I want to buy another S plus to swap parts out to troubleshoot, but haven't found one yet. If anyone has any advice on how to get the candle to shut off and coins to be accepted so it can be played that would be awesome. Thanks to anyone who puts effort into my problem.

If you cleared machine you need a set15 chip to enable BV and set denom.  Try putting a different quarter in the CC.

Thanks, mark but I actually did use a set chip and enabled the BV. And set the denomination for 25 cents. Also put a different quarter in the CC. The light comes on with it, but the rake never actuates.

I would like to clarify something.
In your first post, you said that the machine was "stuck in the 60-1 loop"
There's no such thing.
An S+ does NOT have a tilt code of "60".
The MPU computer can ONLY have a stuck logic signal when in a "[61-1] Loop"...it means the CMOS chip was corrupted.

The rake uses the two gray wires going to the top of the coin comparitor circuit board.
Try wiggling the connector...could be just an oxidized pin.
Wiggling the 2-pin connector might bust off some of the oxidization and promote better electrical contact.

You can also try turning the coin sensitivity dial on the front of the coin comparitor all the way counter-clockwise, then clockwise one 1/4 turn to the right.
That will put the coin sensitivity in the ballpark area.
Just to let you know, if you turn the dial counter-clockwise all the way to the left, it will accept anything that is the same size as the sample coin...it would act the same way as if there was no rake.
You can remove the rake if you want...what would you need it for, at home?

Yes, my mistake the error code 61-1 was the loop I was in. I will clean the connections on the gray wires and I don't mind disabling the rake if it's not Going to give me any issues by doing that. I did turn the sensitivity all the way counter clockwise. Any idea why the candle is flashing and anything else I can do to get the machine to accept coins and give me credits. I'm adding a picture of the backside of the CC  board because it is darkened in areas because of heat. The red LED light does come on. Do you think that the board would be working properly or could it still be a problem? I called
the coin mechanism company today and they have this exact board. But it's $100 and don't want to get it unless I need it.

The candle will continue to flash until you complete one game.

How were you able to see that the red LED on the CC board was on?
It will only come on if the door is closed.
Did you hang it outside or open the belly door and let it hang there?

For your information, the coin comparitor does not send accepted credit signals back to the MPU....it's the coin-in optics board that's directly underneath the CC....that's why, as a homeowner, you don't really need a rake.
The CC's only job is to compare coins dropped thru it to match the sample coin.
For now, all you need is the coin comparitor to guide coins down into the coin-in optics so the machine can get a registered credit.

I have tons of CC circuit boards that are darkened but still work fine.
I'd be surprised if they CMI will sell you any CC boards without a casino license.
I'm surprised they even make them anymore?

I have rewired the optics, so they sit side by side on the reel shelf. I just put a small plastic card between them to make like the door is open and remove it to make like the door is shut so I can have the door open and see the LED light on the CC. I know I did this earlier and it did not work for me. Butt, I have propped, open the rake and everything works as it should now. The light is not flashing and it is accepting coins. And I'm going to have some fun. Thanks again for your assistance.

haha...I wonder if you had the door in a "closed-state" with the credit card in between the optics?
I've racked my brain wondering why certain times things didn't work when testing stuff...only to realize I had the door opened or closed when using a bypass....whether it's optics on a shelf, a jumper wire, or a cherry switch.
